New Writing Devotionals!
This is a new collection of devotionals for, and by, Christian writers. I feel like something of a pro with these, since I published my own collection of them back in 2008 (Words To Write By) and continue to seek them for publishing on my blog. I really enjoyed reading through the essays, each of which starts with a related verse and ends with a prayer and a set of writing prompts. I don't recall any devotionals I've read including a prompt section, so that was unique to this anthology.
"The Bad Review Blues" by Heather Gray was a very inspiring piece, as the author shared some of her literary rejections, many with cruel comments. Her method of dealing with them was to separate herself from the actual work, which is so hard for writers to do. She then offers tips for getting past the hurt and offering it up in prayer. Her writing prompts encourage readers to jot down their own similar experiences and to search for Scripture references.
I'd recommend this book to Christian writers, and those who think writing may be in their future.
And really nice,...proceeds from the sale of this book are being donated to the scholarship fund for the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference (www.brmcwc.com).
