A Passion Most Pure

(Revell January 1, 2008)

by

Julie Lessman

She's found the love of her life. Unfortunately, he loves her sister ...

As World War I rages across the Atlantic in 1916, a smaller war is brewing in Boston. Faith O’Connor finds herself drawn to an Irish rogue who is anything but right for her. Collin McGuire is brash, cocky, and from the wrong side of the tracks, not to mention forbidden by her father. And then there’s the small matter that he is secretly courting her younger sister. But when Collin’s affections suddenly shift her way, it threatens to tear Faith's proper Boston family apart.

Refusing to settle for anything less than a romantic relationship that pleases God, Faith O'Connor steels her heart against her desire for the roguish Collin McGuire. Collin is trying to win her sister Charity's hand, and Faith isn't sure she can handle the jealousy she feels. Full of passion, romance, rivalry, and betrayal, A Passion Most Pure is Book 1 of the Daughters of Boston series.

Our Writing Gifts

Bill Keller on using our gifts for God--

One of the great things about God is how HE has given gifts and talents to
His children. Each one of us is unique. To one He may give the gift of
music, yet to another the gift of helps. To one He may give the gift of
science, yet to another the gift of athleticism. To one He may give the gift
of compassion, yet to another the gift of evangelism. ALL good and perfect
gifts come from God! YOUR special gifts and talents come from God.

The purpose of your gifts, of your talents, is to better serve and glorify
God with your life. God does not give us gifts and talents to hide them, to
hoard them, but to USE THEM for HIS GLORY! Sadly, many of those God has
gifted have sold their gifts to "the world" for fame and fortune. This is a
trap that many of God's most gifted people fall into. In the end, they sadly
realize that they sold their soul to the devil himself for a little
adulation and a few dollars which have little meaning in the big picture of
life.

Even though you may never be famous by the world's
standards, the ONLY one that it is important to impress is HIM. HE is
impressed when you take the gifts and talents that He has given to you and
use them to bring honor and glory to HIS name. I pray today that you not
only identify your gifts and talents, but use them to honor and glorify God.
In the end, HE is the ONLY ONE that you must please!

Cups of Water Winner!

All your answers were wonderful! Thanks so much to all who shared about their "cups."

Sooooo. . . . I put the names in a bowl and my dh picked Val.

Congrats Val, send me an email with your name & mailing addy!!

I'm it! I'm it!

Janet Elaine Smith has tagged me for the Me-Me (Moi-Moi) Blog thingie!

I've been MeMe'd. MeMe'd you ask? Well, so did I. Then I found out that I'd been tagged in this great little fun game that's going around. The guilty person who passed it on to me has her responses at http://janetelainesmith.blogspot.com/. A person tags your blog and then you get to talk about yourself. How wonderful is that? If a person is taking the time to blog, they are not going to miss an opportunity to talk about themselves, are they? I've been tagged and I'm it! So here goes.
The MeMe Rules of the Game:
Link to the person who tagged you. Post the rules on your blog. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Six totally useless facts about Robin Bayne

1) I actually wanted to publish under my full name, Robin Lee Bayne, but Robin Lee Hatcher had already claimed it in the inspirational fiction field. But I couldn't blame her when she explained everyone laughed if she left out her middle name. It seems that "Robin Hatcher" brings up images of lovely baby birds.

2) I went to modeling school as a teen and even taught at one later. My students were middle school girls, because the school director thought I looked too young to teach the older girls or adults.

3) I have a huge collection of Beanie Babies, and try to donate some around the holidays to children's shelters.

4) I once won a car at a mortgage banker's convention. It was a PT Cruiser, back when they were popular.

5) I majored in Philosophy/English in college, and asking all those questions about God and the meaning of life just confirmed my faith.

6) I drink "Christmas coffee" all year long--a wonderful blend of orange, cinnamon and butter rum flavored coffees.

  • Vision & Motivation

    Excerpt from Liveprayer.com's Daily Devotional--great for writers : )

The Bible tells us that the people perish "where there is no vision". What
God needs in these last days, more than ever, is a people sold out to Him,
not afraid to dream big dreams and have total faith in Him. Every day people
die and will be forever separated from God because they do not know Christ
as their Savior. Every day people all over the world are dealing with the
trials and tribulations of everyday life, hurting, without hope because they
do not know Jesus. God has called us to be the light to this dark world. We
must allow Him to use our lives to be that light in the midst of the
darkness so many live in. That is what He asks me to do each day, and what
He asks you to do each day. As we are faithful over a little, "He makes us
ruler over much". He will use our lives to whatever degree we allow Him to
    use us.

Our motivation is critical. The Bible teaches in many places that we are to
set our desires on the things of heaven, not on earth. You can spend your
entire life trying to be the best athlete, the best businessman. the most
successful actress, the recording artist who sells the most records, the top
military man in your country, a scientist who makes many wonderful
discoveries, or the best at whatever profession you want to name, and you
may succeed. But unless you were doing it for the Lord, allowing the Lord to
use your success to bring His message of hope and love through Christ to
many people, the best you can hope for is a paragraph in the history books
that one day will no longer cease to exist. That means your lifetime
accomplishments are temporal at best. That is why when our motivation is
Heaven-bound, the accomplishments have an eternal significance in the
changed hearts and lives of people.

    101 Cups of Water

I have to admit, the cover on this little book really caught my attention. I did feel thirsty looking at it, and I was glad I opened it up.Photobucket

Cec Murphey calls it "Refreshingly honest and disarmingly vulnerable."

I enjoyed the honest "cups" the author shared from his life. For example, A Cup of Defiance shares with the reader how the author is tired of being condemned for his shortcomings. . . by other folks behind his back.

I have a copy of this book to give away!!! Leave a comment about what part of life you would like a "cup" of for a chance to win.
You will also receive an unclaimed prize --the novel "Let Them Eat Cake" by Sandra Byrd!

C.D. Baker dips into the flowing stream of God’s love and draws out relief, refreshment, mercy, hope and sustenance for a new generation of Christ-followers. Baker’s clean, simple prose is paired with evocative, black and white photographs that will etch each truth into the reader’s memory.

C.D. Baker founded and operated an award-winning insurance business before redirecting his career to write. His historical novel Crusade of Tears in The Journey of Souls series earned a Christy Award nomination. He’s completing a master’s degree in theological studies at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where he splits his time from home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Happily Even After
    (#3 - Sassy Sistahood Series)

    (Steeple Hill January 1, 2008)

    by

    Marilynn Griffith

    Superwoman doesn't live here!

I marry a gorgeous executive, have a baby, lose all the weight (most of it), and move to a fine house in the suburbs with a welcoming new church. Wait...did I say welcoming?

One teeny waaah! and new mothers and their crying babies are exiled to a separate room. At least there's some enlightening conversation. Like about my husband and issues I didn't even know about!

And then there's my aptly named mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth, who can't stand me.

I'm about to lose my mind! So it's high time for a visit to the Sassy Sistahood for some much-needed advice about men, marriage and motherhood!

The Sassy Sistahood: They get by with a little help from their friends.

    God is Calling

Excerpt from Liveprayer.com's Daily devo-- writers, pay attention!

So exactly what is God calling you to do? Many think serving God means
selling everything you have and going to live in some far off jungle. While
God does burden many people to serve Him in a missionary capacity, most
people God calls to serve Him right where they are at in their life. Don't
think for a second that it is an accident or coincidence you go to school
where you do or that you work where you do. It is God who opened those doors
and has placed you for this season of your life right where He wants you to
    be.

GOD NEEDS HIS CHILDREN IN EVERY SCHOOL, IN EVERY TYPE OF BUSINESS, IN EVERY
    OCCUPATION!

Never forget that your greatest witness for the Lord will always be how you
live your life before others each day. People do notice. Also, the greatest
thing you can share with someone, after how they can be saved, is what Jesus
has done in your life. You are a living testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ!
God has you at the school you go to, at the job you work at, living where
you do, meeting people in the course of your daily activities, for a reason
and purpose. Especially today where the better part of two full generations
don't go to church, you are the only Bible they will ever read and the only
contact with Christ they will ever have.

NOBODY IS IN YOUR LIFE BY ACCIDENT!

However, there are some of you reading this today that God IS calling to a
new level of commitment and service, and you know exactly who you are. God
is speaking to you clearly through this message today. He is telling you
that now is the time to step out in faith and trust Him. He has given you a
special burden to serve Him and wants you to trust Him today. This word is
simply His confirmation of what He has already been talking to you about.
The fear and doubt you have are coming from satan. Now is the time to step
out in faith, trust Him, and do with your life what you know God is calling
    you to do.

In closing, I again want to speak directly to those of you who have been
struggling with God's calling on your life. For most, you are right where He
wants you to be for this season. Keep being the salt of the earth, the light
to this world in your school and in your workplace. But for some of you, God
is calling you to step out in faith and fully and unconditionally surrender
your life to Him today. He wants to use you in a special way in serving His
    Kingdom.

My counsel to you is this. Be honored God wants to use you. We get a few
opportunities along our journey to do something great with our life. Not in
the way the world judges greatness, but in the way God judges greatness.
There is nothing greater you can do with your life than to serve the Lord.
Step out in faith and trust the Lord to guide you and meet your every need,
as you answer His call to service. God is calling you to make a difference
    with your life NOW!!!
